A special note from Grandmaster Edward B. Sell to all Black Belts and Instructors of other organizations who are looking for more...

We learn from people and events throughout our lives. Our parents are our first teachers, then we are touched by our peers, and from there we progress through our years of formal education. In our adult lives, our learning continues to expand through lessons learned from our failures and successes. Another method of acquiring knowledge and expertise is by following the advice and emulating the lifestyle of those we respect.

I will forever remain thankful to those individuals who have affected my life in a positive manner. These people have guided me in both my martial arts career and personal life. Most of all, I am both awed and humbled that my personal walk with God has led me to achieve many world martial arts records.

Respectfully, I note my name will forever be synonymous with “the first”
American Grandmaster.

Having accomplished all of my personal goals in the martial arts, I can
now fully devote myself to helping Senior Instructors to fulfill their goals
and aspirations. John Maxwell, a leading motivational speaker, reminds us that, “In order to be successful, we must produce successors!” It should be known that not only do I completely believe in that statement, I have made it my mission.

Hopefully by now, you have come to realize that our responsibility as instructors expands beyond the physical aspect of teaching Taekwondo. The USCDKA believes that the purpose of Taekwondo is to help cultivate each person in mind, body and spirit. We refer to this teaching philosophy as the “Whole Man Concept”.

Traditionally, we instructors see our teaching position as one we
have “chosen”. I prefer to perceive our profession as an “assigned
duty” to train and develop our students. According to Proverbs 22:6,
“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will
not depart from it.” If we collectively take this verse to heart, we can
serve as tillers of the world’s soil by planting and cultivating seeds of
love, respect, kindness, honesty, generosity, pure thinking and humility.

No doubt, you understand that in order for you to have a positive and lasting impact on your students, you must possess the qualities and
demeanor of a good leader. I am prepared, and would be honored to hear from you in order to establish a relationship that would most certainly impact your professional martial arts career, and undoubtedly your life.
